High resolution airborne multispectral imagery to support vine-level vineyard management, corporate and regional monitoring programmes

PRECISION VINE VIGOUR

& VARIABILITY MAPPING

logo.png

Airborne remote sensing is a proven, efficient and objective way to characterise the spectral response of vines at the canopy level, allowing vigour and variability information to be extracted and assessed at the block, property and regional level.

SpecTerra Imagery has been validated in pioneering studies of remote sensing for precision viticulture applications. Our V3 Maps product is now widely used across Australia, New Zealand and Europe by independent growers, corporates/cooperatives, industry and research organisations.

Typically acquired at the start of the veraison period, V3 Maps data allows managers and winemakers to strategically manage variability for a targeted vine and wine outcome.

Who we work with

Helping growers manage vineyard variability

SpecTerra V3 Maps provide spatial context to intra-and-inter-block variability in vigour to support:

  • Selective harvesting to improve the retail value of wine

  • Differential application of inputs and management practices to improve vineyard homogeneity and to reduce/maintain costs of production

  • Strategic field sampling to improve the accuracy in the measure of interest

  • Vineyard design, field experimentation and outcome validation

Group Codorniu

SpecTerra have been imaging Codorniu vineyards since 2006. Their data supports our need to obtain the very best results from each of them, helping to determine the precise moment for harvest and the wine making potential of each part of each vineyard.

Australia

Grapegrowers and wine producers have embraced the use of SpecTerra Imagery as a means to reduce or maintain costs of crop production and in some cases substantially improve the retail value of grapes and wine.

SpecTerra Imagery aids decision making in the vineyard, for care, protection and nutrition. The ultimate goal is to increase yields and standardise growth. Thanks to the Imagery, in four years some plots have increased low yields with variable quality to strong yields with a good consistent quality
